About

The Blog
Established in the summer of 2014 in an attempt to escape dissertation writing, Nomad Notebook documents the life of a 20-something year old trying to find her way through life. Whilst first being established in a small flat in the historic city of York, Nomad Notebook now comes from the other side of the world in Brisbane, Australia.

I suppose Nomad Notebook doesn't really fit into a specific blogging category, although it mainly documents lifestyle and travel posts. Whilst initially I thought it would be a good idea to target my blog to a specific category, I've found I just enjoy writing and documenting whatever interests me.

Some of my favorite posts I have written:

The Girl
When I’m not reading blogs or posting on Nomad Notebook, I enjoy the simple things in life; travelling, the outdoors and keeping up-to-date with political affairs. Me and Mr. Nomad really love getting out of the house to explore and stumbling across secret little coffee joints and nature’s best kept secrets; all of which I blog about of course!

Travel is and always has been a big part of my life, and whilst I’m originally from Yorkshire in the UK, I moved to Queensland, Australia in November 2014 with my boyfriend who’s actually from Tasmania. We both love travelling (hence naming this blog Nomad Notebook) and both felt like the next chapter of our journey together involved moving to Australia. We chose Queensland as this is a part of Australia I am semi-familiar with after travelling here during my gap year.

So now we’re just at the stage of setting up base in Queensland; exploring the amazing beaches together, finding decent coffee shops, attempting to familiarise my British driving skills with highways and the necessity of air con and getting to know our local area whilst making lots of memories together. Whilst this isn't solely a travel blog, it documents the life of an expat and all the highs and lows that come with it. You’ll also find I post a lot of DIY’s, recipes (most of which are vegetarian and gluten-free as i'm a coeliac), Feminist posts and anything else that sparks my interest. Make sure to follow Nomad Notebook to keep up to date with our adventures and I hope you enjoy the ride!

A few things I love: early mornings, swimming, cooking, bike rides, the gym, carboot sales, wrapping presents, the seaside, browsing Pinterest, good coffee, Feminism, museums & galleries, date nights, cups of Yorkshire tea, avocado on toast, fresh flowers, the sound of the sea, smiles from strangers, lists and roadtrips.

A Brief Timeline
Where I've Been
Both me and Mr. Nomad are keen travelers, and although I haven't stepped foot in quite as many countries as I'd like (Mr. Nomad has traveled quite extensively already), hopefully this will change soon! After settling into our new life in Australia (including sorting out our visas *shudders*), we really hope to travel quite extensively over the coming years, so watch this space!
